The Karunai Illam school & home for physically handicapped children
It supports 210 disabled children in 13 villages of Vilavancode taluk, Kanayakumari district to improve their living condition. The children have access to specialized physical & mental health care & rehabilitation. To improve the mobility, curative surgery and appliances are planned for 8 disabled children.
Children’s Home of Joy in Madurai
This program offers a residential formal education for 30 girls under rehabilitative aspect with vocational training. A lot is done around art, music, and dance. In addition, the program supports evening non formal education centers for 30 additional girls who have to work during the day to generate income for their families.
Saint Joseph School for the Blind in Madurai:
This project provides residential special education for visually impaired children in Madurai and 9 other districts of Tamil Nadu. 9o visually impaired children receive primary education – using Braille language – and residential care. Besides this, 5 villages in the vicinity of the School are taken up for CBR initiatives. Activities are designed for the children in a barrier free environment that allows them to move freely and learn to be independent.
